Projection describes how breast volume is distributed relative to the area where the breast attaches to the chest.

Moulded cups keep a preset smooth shape.
They can be useful when that shape matches the breast, but they may be less forgiving when:

- the cup is too tall;
- asymmetry is present;

Seamed cups
Seams can create targeted three-dimensional shaping.
Depending on their direction and design, they may provide:

A seamed cup is not automatically projected, and a moulded cup is not automatically shallow. Construction must be judged model by model.
