Breast shape does not change the measurements you took, but it can change how those measurements translate into a comfortable bra. Two people with the same calculated size may need different cup shapes, and one person may prefer adjacent cup sizes across different constructions.
Size estimates volume; shape decides where the space is needed
A bra calculator uses circumferences to estimate a band-and-cup relationship. Circumference cannot describe the full three-dimensional distribution of breast tissue.

Each symptom can also result from cup geometry.

This is more efficient than choosing bras only by names such as “T-shirt”, “balconette” or “plunge”, because styles within those categories still vary.
Should breast shape be part of the calculator?
Shape can improve recommendations, but it should not silently change the mathematical result.
A transparent tool should:
- calculate the measurement-based size first;
- ask optional shape questions afterward;
- explain how shape affects the recommended styles or nearby sizes;
- avoid pretending that a simple quiz can identify anatomy with certainty.
