Editorial Standards and Review Process

Purpose and audience

This policy explains how our guides and tool copy are researched, written and checked, for readers, reviewers and anyone evaluating whether to trust this site's content.

Source hierarchy

We prioritise, in order: the actual behaviour of our own calculation code, official brand size guides for brand-specific claims, established fitting resources for general fitting practice, and only then general web content - which we treat as a starting reference, not text to copy.

Original analysis

Any statement that could vary by sizing system is checked against the actual tables our calculator uses, not assumed from memory or a single external source.

Author requirements

Guides are attributed to a named author. We do not publish anonymous or fabricated bylines.

Reviewer requirements

Content that gives fitting advice is reviewed before publication. A "reviewed" label is only used once that review has genuinely happened - pages pending review say so.

Use of AI

AI tools may assist with outlining, consistency checks or translation preparation. Every published guide must be reviewed for factual accuracy, usefulness, tone, duplication and unsupported claims by a responsible editor. AI output is never treated as a source.

Fact checking

Sizing claims are checked against our own calculation tables. Brand-specific claims are checked against that brand's own published materials where available.

Update frequency

Guides are reviewed periodically and whenever a correction is reported or the underlying calculation logic changes in a way that affects the guide's content.

Corrections

Anyone can report a suspected error via the contact page. Corrections are reflected in the content directly, not buried in an unlinked changelog.

Affiliate independence

Editorial recommendations are not for sale. Any affiliate relationship, if one exists, is disclosed on the affiliate disclosure page and does not determine what we recommend.

Image standards

Illustrative diagrams are used for anatomy and measurement instructions rather than stock photos implying a specific "correct" body. Alt text is written to be useful on its own, not just to fill the attribute.

Medical boundaries

This site gives fitting guidance, not medical advice. Content involving pain, skin changes or other symptoms directs readers to seek appropriate medical care rather than offering a diagnosis.

Translation workflow

Translated pages are only published once genuinely translated and reviewed for that language - we do not publish raw machine translation, and an untranslated page is simply omitted rather than linked as a false equivalent.
