Bra Type
Sports Bras
A sports bra is built for support during movement, not for shaping under everyday clothing. Construction falls into three broad categories: compression (flattens against the chest), encapsulation (cups each breast individually, closer to a standard bra), or hybrid (both).
Construction
Higher-intensity activity generally calls for more structured encapsulation or hybrid designs; lower-intensity activity can often be well served by compression alone. Band and strap construction also tends to be firmer and wider than everyday styles.
Common fit challenge
Sports-bra sizing frequently doesn't follow the same band/cup numbers as everyday bras, even within one brand. A size that's correct in a T-shirt bra isn't a reliable prediction for a sports bra in the same label.
What to check
- Start from your calculated everyday size, then fit-check the specific sports-bra style rather than assuming the label carries over.
- For higher-impact activity, prioritise minimal bounce over how the size number compares to your everyday bra.
