Plunge Bras

A plunge bra lowers and narrows the centre gore so the bra can sit under a low neckline. Cups are usually angled inward to push tissue toward the centre rather than up.

Construction

The gore is shorter and set lower than a standard bra, sometimes with minimal or no wire bridge at all. Cup shape is often more angled than rounded, to work with the lower centre point.

Common fit challenge

Because the gore is short by design, it needs close-set tissue and enough cup volume to fill the angled shape. Wider-set breasts, or a cup that's too small for the style, both tend to leave the gore floating away from the breastbone rather than resting against it.

What to check

Check whether the gore sits close to the breastbone in normal wear, not just when you press it there.
If it floats consistently across several plunge styles, consider whether the cup has enough volume for your shape rather than just the band/cup number.
For very close-set shapes, a plunge often fits more predictably than a full-coverage style.
