Fit Problem
Why Do My Bra Cups Gape?
Gaping has more than one likely cause, and "cup too big" is only one of them - excess volume, cup shape, and unsettled tissue can all produce the same visible gap.
First test to try
Do the band-only test first. If the band is already confirmed comfortable and the gore lies flat, excess cup volume becomes the more likely explanation. If the band hasn't been tested, or the gore floats, treat it as an open shape question first.
Possible causes
- Excess cup volume for that construction.
- A cup that's too tall or too rigid for your shape (common in moulded/T-shirt styles).
- Tissue that hasn't been fully settled into the cup.
- Band instability pulling the cup out of position.
- A difference between your two sides.
What to try
Compare one cup size smaller in the same model against a differently-shaped cup at your current size. If the differently-shaped cup fixes it, shape - not size - was the more likely cause.
