Fit Problem
Why Does My Bra Band Feel Too Tight?
Before sizing up the band, it's worth confirming the band is actually the source of the tightness - a lot of "tight band" complaints turn out to be cups that are too small pulling the band inward.
First test to try
Wear the bra backwards and upside down, cups not covering the breasts, and judge the band on its own. Comfortable this way but tight normally worn points to the cups, not the band.
Possible causes
- Cups too small, pulling the band tighter than the band size alone would explain.
- Band genuinely too small for your ribcage.
- A damaged or distorted bra creating tension the size itself isn't responsible for.
What to try
If the band-only test is comfortable, try the same band with the next cup size up before changing the band. If the band itself is tight even alone, try one band size up with the matching sister cup down.
For the full walkthrough of the band-only test itself, see our guide to the upside-down, backwards bra test.
